1. Obamacare is the LAW OF THE LAND. It was passed by the President in 2010, upheld by the Supreme Court in 2012 and certainly didn't prevent Obama from being elected AGAIN in 2012.

2. Holding the country hostage to get what you want and shutting down the government is completely inexcusable.

I'm an independent and completely turned off by the GOP now. Ted Cruz is a joke. Rand Paul is a joke. All of these guys are anti-gay also. No more!
no one cares

Just remember who to blame when your kids are taxed at 50%, dims.
Hank Paulson for the bank bailouts, in Oct 2008, under Bush.

Students today aren't stupid, sorry GOP . They know what wall street and paulson stand for. And Cruz (wife =Goldman Sachs) as well, with his father paid to spew jingoism as a "successful immigrant". Is more like a poorly acted reality show. People aren't buying it anymore.

You first point out the "hypocrisy" of this particular politician, as if politicians possess some type of reputation for integrity in the first place. What will be your next "shocking" revelation? Politicians sometimes tell little fibs? Then you create this straw man argument that this guy was a "tea partier" before the tea party movement even started. In addition, you use this guy as the poster boy for conservatism, as if his actions in this instance reflects every conservative. What we seem to have here is just more of the same .... liberal grandstanding that consistently suffers from it's own supreme hypocrisy in it's consistent blind spots when it comes to left wing political hypocrisy and outright dishonesty to which the democrats don't have exclusive rights to .. but have masterfully perfected to a fine art form .... i.e. a president that seems incapable of telling the truth about ANYTHING.

The larger point that people (including yourself) ought not to miss is how this wealthy fellow is taking advantage ... while the SS and Medicaid assistance may or may not be needed (I do not have insight into that man's personal financial situation), rest assured that the financial burdens medical care can represent to any and everyone can and does bankrupt people, and that is just one piece of the complicated pie of government becoming involved in matters it has no business interfering in. The reality is, "charity" is a good thing, and for those who have the means, it should be considered a moral obligation. However, "forced charity", by means of forced taxes to pay for these charitable programs is not "charity" at all ... it's theft. Stealing from you, in order to "give" to others is even more IMMORAL than a wealthy person refusing to offer assistance they could easily afford.

You see, the burden these programs place on EVERY working class person and family in America cannot be deemed morally just, precisely because you have no way of understanding the impact to each one of them ... but we do KNOW for a fact that there are lots and lots of people who simply can't afford to offer others charity, yet they are forced into providing it anyway, based on the misguided idealism of the relentless do-gooder" mentality that personifies the impractical and short sighted minds of the leftist visionary. Talk about "hypocrisy" ? How is it any less hypocrisy to support the forced extraction of one family's hard earned and needed money to pay a benefit to another .... in this case ... YOUR wealthy politician's benefit? That's where the true hypocrisy resides ... not in the person gaming the system for their personal benefit ... they are simply doing exactly what was guaranteed to happen the moment such a program was created and made available to them to exploit. Big surprise this is not.

The greater reality insofar as health tragedies are concerned, and the resultant financial tragedy that adds insult to the injury ... it is government interference and involvement in healthcare that has created the outlandish and outrageous costs of healthcare we see now. THIS IS WHAT YOU PEOPLE CAN'T SEEM TO GRASP, but I will explain it to you anyway ....

Health insurance creates a large "pool" of funds to which the healthcare establishment can draw from. In lieu of such a large stockpile of available money to tap ... healthcare delivery costs would have to observe the age old free market concept of supply-demand-affordability formula that EVERYTHING ELSE is forced to observe. Those costs would have to establish levels to which the average person could afford, or would be willing to pay. You can bet your last dollar, few people would willingly pay $50 for a damned aspirin many hospitals are found to charge ... nor would they be predisposed to pay $240 for the 60 second visit their "caring" doctor charges them when he stops in to look over their chart, asking them "how you feeling today Mr. Smith". This caring doctor, who may have 7 patients in the hospital on a "good day" can make his "rounds" .... and $240 per minute ain't bad work if you can get it. So, in case your math is rusty ... Dr. Feelgood can stop in on his 7 patients ... spend a minute or two with each one, and rack up $1,680 in attending fees in less time than it takes you to drink your first cup of morning coffee. And this is just one minor example .... we have many examples where an extended stay in a hospital for a month or two can rack up a Million dollars in fees. Heck, such an amount could provide that poor patient a penthouse suit in one of the Trump Towers, with a staff of doctors and nurses attending only to them. These are the situations that nobody questions because ... wait for it .... who cares! The insurance covers it!!

Another underlying reality is that each of these "government welfare programs" are like a lot of other "charities" who's administrative costs eat up 70 cents or more of every dollar passing to their caring little hands. The fact is, each of these programs are nothing more than another tax mechanism to take from you, and give to the wealthy ... your original point of outrage. It also serves as a built in means to blame the victims of this theft for the need to steal more and more.

But I'm sure you feel good at the end of the day .. knowing that you are a "caring" person who simply wants to provide a safety net to those less fortunate ... even if that results in the Executives of the Pharmaceutical Giants, the Hospitals, the Universities, the Insurance companies and the many Dr. Feelgoods out there being blessed with the fortune of living in a Multi-Million dollar estates ... having their 50 ft boats docked at the marina, and sending his kids to private schools, while you decry the conservative who supports alternative school vouchers for those who would like their children to receive a proper education, rather than the government provided lousy one, but cannot afford it.

And I've just touched the surface of this reverse Robin Hood fraud promoted by the leftist "do-gooders" who ignore the reality that what they are really promoting is an ideology that steals from the poor majority and gives to the wealthy few, under the guise of compassion.

Do you think poor people write this government assistance-welfare legislation? No ... the wealthy 1%er's do, and you can bet that they are not likely to cut themselves with the pen. Each new program and each new reform is just another mechanism for government and industry to to jack us up a little bit more .... read: rob us blind, while pretending to be our saviors.
Absolutely ridiculous, if you're against a government program you should have the moral balls to say no thanks to it and if you do take advantage of what you rail against then you admit to it. And your arguments are absolutely pro universal health care so go ahead and advocate that and I'll support you 100%.
