Cruz was not born in this country, and he was not born on American diplomatic or military property abroad. That is a very different situation from that of Obama, whose candidacy was under attack for reasons that were purely racial and xenophobic.

Eleanor Darragh, mother of Ted Cruz, was raised in Delaware, graduated from a Catholic High School in the U.S., as well as Rice University, so clearly she meets the residency requirements.

I don't know the guy, I am not at this point backing his candidacy for president, (he has not announced it anyway), I just appreciate his willingness to stand up for what he believes, and his courage to take the slings and arrows of a completely hostile media.
It shows guts, and I appreciate that in a senator. We could use more of that in washington these days.

Ted Cruz is an inspiration. He is rational clear thinking and a great communicator. Coming form neighbor Canada he has a more objective eye on what is relevant and good goal for this country. IMHO he is pushing for our return to being a people run government not the monarchy king Obama is creating. He is also aware that the present day middle road republicans are on shaky ground with their constituents since they have sold our freedom to the highest bidder. He is a leader.
I was vaguely aware he was from another country but with your statement that he is an inspirational Canadian, there is the obvious question that coming from Canada he no doubt benefited from Canadian health care, either his parents with maternity care or himself personally. I would have more respect for him if he were pushing for a Canadian universal health care model but all I heard was take the country down to get rid of ACA. With all his anti ACA rhetoric what actual suggestions did he have in place of ACA?
Ted Cruz and his supporters are Republican heros. They represent the best of what American politics should be, and should sreve as a model for the Republican Party of the future. The Party "establishment," the Dynasty, must come to an end.
I stumbled across this speech by Michelle Malkin. She articulates well what the Tea Party is about, and why it must continue.
"Dissent is patriotic ... we need more of it within the Republican Party and the Republican Party movement."

Cruz and the tea party are currently being slammed like a screen door in a hurricane. Nothing good can be said about what he did, what the tea party represents, or the future of either.
