Once Golden, the People; Republic of Kalifornistan is a the Canary In the Coalmine as to what going to happen to all the for US -

Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.”

Those of us who do are doomed to sit by helplessly and watch them do it.

Life is tough on Skid Row, the downtown part of Los Angeles that is home to thousands of homeless people who have hit rock bottom.

Skid row and poverty existed before Barack Obama and will exist after him.

The woman in the first picture looks like quite the catch. The type of lady one takes home to meet their mother!

Yes, Skid Row never existed before Obama. The nation and the world never knew poverty, homeless and drug addiction before Obama.

This sort of thing never happened before 2008 in the history of man, let alone the nation.

True. But there was a time when begging was unusual in the US. In the 19th century people like De Tocqueville were coming over to check out the American experiment. One universal reaction that these visitors had was: where are all the beggars? They were common in Europe at the time, but very unusual in the US.

The real demarcation point IMO would be not Obama, but Woodrow Wilson when big gov't started to take off. Before Wilson there was no income tax, no FBI, no drug war, limited 'empire America' activity, etc. Federal spending as a pct. of GDP was under 5 pct except during the civil war when it rose to 14 pct. After Wilson (1912) you can see that there was a steady rise in the size of gov't to its current level of about 25%. Along with that was a steady rise in homelessness and begging, to the point where it is now a standard feature of US landscape.

Umm.... Skid Row has been an area of Los Angeles for DECADES. Including the eight years the state had Reagan as Governor.

The cold, hard, ugly truth is that the population of Skid Row increased dramatically when Reagan shut down the best mental health care system in the country and literally tossed the mentally ill into the streets.

And the politicians of California are working on bringing in all the millions of cheap illegal labor they can. They're even handing out drivers licenses, doing everything they can to encourage the cheapest labor possible to move in and grab up all jobs.

I'm pretty sure a 54 yr-old mathematician could find a job when Bush was in office.

I'll agree with you that Obama didn't invent bad economic policy, but he did dramatically improve its effectiveness.

This is to be expected though.

A bad economy is a Democrat's best chance to sell their line of bull **** to the poorly educated LIVs who keep them in power because they are too stupid to understand leftist policies have trashed the economy and more of the same will have the same effect.

You can't fix it if it isn't broken should be the motto of the Democratic Party.

I'm in favor of not locking up mentally ill. Reagan was right -- the abuses in the past were horrendous. People who had done nothing wrong were locked away, often by relatives who wanted their money, or people who just don't like someone who is a little eccentric.

How can liberals insist too many people are in prison when they want to lock up anyone just for acting different?

Many mentally ill can be treated on an outpatient basis -- they don't need to be kept locked away in insane asylums. That was terrible.
