I wonder if that is inline with the price of milk in those regions since a latte is largely milk. Also, keep in mind that Grande is starbuck's large size. They have two smaller sizes which are cheaper.

In many places in the US, Grande is the "medium" size. The other two are Tall and Venti.

There are five sizes that all Starbucks in the US carry:

Short (small)
Tall (medium)
Grande (large)
Venti (20oz)
Trenta (31oz)

Short is not listed on their menu and can be requested. Trenta is only available for certain cold drinks.

I know there are five sizes, but if you say "medium" in the shop you will receive grande.
They only list prices for three sizes on the board too.
