I'd guess if legal marijuana was taxed to about the same price or a bit more as black market marijuana, most people would still choose the legal route. Legal routes seem more comfortable and trustworthy than illegal ones.
In such an event, consumers will buy from whomever provides the best quality and service. The legal route certainly has less risk, but that risk is also factored into the price of illegally sold marijuana. The greater the chance of being arrested, the higher the price. It certainly does not cost $15/gram to grow marijuana. Hell, it does not even cost $1/gram to grow marijuana.

As far as trustworthy is concerned, neither are to be trusted. That would be a serious mistake. A drug pusher is still a drug pusher, it does not matter if they are government sponsored or not.

Now if you buy legal pot, it maybe higher costs upfront, but unless you do something stupid with it you will not face the issues that come from going to jail.
Millions of people are already quite comfortable taking that risk and have been for many years. And in most places, you will not get any jail time for buying a small quantity.

But just like booze and tobacco, a certain few will bankrupt themselves to get high and then be a burden on society.
And you have a nice day too! Meanwhile, millions of us avoid all taxes by using the black market.

It's still controlled by the government which is pathetic. They don't control green beans and tomatoes. They should not control weed.

I was reading in a Washington State paper today....the legalization of pot has the Politicians scrambling to deal with the "HORRORS" of legal pot.

They want to re-criminalize pot growing for all....including medical pot.

Only access will be via state-approved stores. That means you will show your papers (id) to buy your pot. I can only imagine what the corrupt state will do with the Big Brother list they create of all the evil pot users......no CDL for you, no CC permit for you, no professional license for you!

Not true. The status quo in Alaska is to keep marijuana decriminalized. There is no tax, or government involvement of any kind.
