Consider this: of the thousands of bills introduced in Congress each year, only roughly 5 percent become law. Why do legislators bother proposing so many bills? What if many of those bills are written not to be passed but to pressure people into forking over cash?

This is exactly what is happening. Politicians have developed a dizzying array of legislative tactics to bring in money.

Ever wonder how americans lives have become so government centric and/ or dependent on laws?
We are pretty much a nation of hapless idiots.
So long as they have such control over our lives, they will have influence to sell to the highest bidder.

You have to wonder: When John Adam's said, "we are a nation of laws" did he envision this bloated overbearing over regulating overreaching government with hundreds of thousands of laws?

I'd have to think not.

The difference between the politicians then; they still believed in common sense and men being accountable for their actions. Today; politicians market their words and image (Forward, Hope and Change, Mission Accomplished...etc.) rather than their actions. They wish to foist power over their (sheep) constituents under the guise of their sheep having the power. May one day we'll find out just how corrupt our own voting system really is.
