I pay so much on taxes, utilities and essentials that I have nothing left for shopping on thanksgiving or most other days. Buying presents for the holidays is just a distant memory.

Too bad your poll isn't honest. What you presented in your OP was asking the government to make a law to force those businesses to close. Why didn't your poll ask that? Dishonest, as usual.

It would have been good to add a third option: Leave it up to the stores.

Forcing them to stay open or closed is pretty bad.

We can move thanksgiving to First saturday in october. problem solved. Who's gonna want to christmas shop before Holloween?

Me lol I start as early as summer. That way the money I spend is spread out over months.
