I'd be the last one to defend the President, but I have to say, it is not his fault. The NSA has been doing this since it's inception, they'd have been irresponsible and reckless not to. It's just that the issue was brought to the attention of the fools who think it was not happening. The hypocritical thing is that ALL countries do this, no one should be naïve as to think that countries do not do this to each other. All politicians know this is going on, but they have to pretend that they are outraged so that their constituents think they are doing the right thing. Do you think China is concerned? They are probably just better at it! And the Russians are masters at it.
Do you recall when the US expelled that ring of Russian sleeper spies a couple of years ago? How do you think they were uncovered? NSA spying. I am sure there are countless other examples that the US can never share, at least not now.
What could they expected to get from tapping Merkel's phone that would help regarding a possible terrorist attack? Is she secretly planning sending a German Jihad to the states?
Yeah, I was wondering how a president Romney or president McCain would have been any less supportive of spying?
Right. We'd probably have half a million troops in Iran today if McCain had been elected. What our allies likes most about Obama was the fact that he was not Bush. McCain was another Bush, so they would have hated him from day 1.
