All I can say is wow...and I usually vote liberal. Wow. 15/hr?! Can you imagine what they would do for so many shops and grocery stores, especially those that are locally owned? To have their costs increases by 20% or more in an already expensive tax city?

All this would do is hurt the middle class and the lower class, as costs would just be hyper inflates because of it. Actually, the middle class would be hurt the worst because they would likely see no raise but a raise in prices.

This is seriously ridiculous.

Me too, but I would be happy seeing it at $15.

Actually, if they are raising it that high, then they might as well set it $30 an hour! So its like we all went to college and worked hard together.

Why not $50? Or $100?

Anybody that believes that companies - particularly small businesses, who employ the bulk of minimum wage workers - can absorb a hit like that is deserving of a visit from both a bridge salesman and a nice Italian man carrying a bat.

If minimum wage were raised to even $15/hr, I'd have to lay off our son. FAMILY. If you honestly believe that you can nearly double the cost of an entry level employee without having massive layoffs or hiring freezes, you're delusional.

layoffs and hiring freezes aren't the end of the world. hell, most corporations have been increasing in value as they layoff more and more workers. Besides, since when do supply-siders care about the labor market?

This is what happens when you support what feels good without examining the impact of the policies you support. Liberals often only look at issues superficially and have no regard for what the side effects of their feel-good laws have on people, businesses and society. As long as they get their way, who cares what damage it does to everyone else impacted by their laws?
