This is a direct result of the decision to pursue emotional, partisan media instead of rational, centrist media. Emotional people make the networks more $$$ than rational folks.

Seems to me that lots of folks hold onto their political affiliation with the same fervor as sports fans cheer for their favorite teams. It's deeply emotional and has little to do with rationality for far too many.
