If someone wants to examine the two principal political parties and "central planning" they'll find an avalanche of such ideas in the platform of the GOP and in the various legislative proposals offered by persons affiliated with that party. There maybe some people associated with the Democratic Party who offer some such suggestions, but they are so greatly over-shadowed by the control freaks in the GOP and the radical right that it's an apples-to-oranges comparison.
When you learn to stop conflating political parties and political ideologies, then you can actually progress toward understanding what's going on.

No, it is YOU who needs to keep up. Thomas Sowell is NOT the name of a "think tank". Thomas Sowell is a person. Thomas Sowell wrote the column, it is not a consensus document produced by a think tank.

It's when the federal government chooses which software a doctor must use to keep his records and that patient information must be transmitted to the federal government to determine if the doctor is correct in his actions. When committees in Washington DC decide what a medical procedure is "worth" in terms of money ,and whether or not it is 'worth' doing.

Actually, we're absolutely correct, and you haven't the faintest idea what liberty is, what central planning is, or that you're obsessed with it.
So you are upset that cars are required to have airbags?

People, people! You cannot argue or reason with with nor change the minds of the hard-core right or entrenched far left. They know best and can't be wrong.

Time to simply chuckle and move on.

How do you know what he is saying is true and factual? Was their a disclaimer to the article that said everything you about to read is true and factual.

Apparently Sowell is the way he is because he believes we should accept the world the way it is and not try to improve it. Thank goodness people like the founders, Edison, the Wright brothers, Ford, Marconi, and many, many others didn't share his vison of not trying to change the world.

No - that is not what Sowell believes. He writes frequently on what is wrong in the world and does not say it is acceptable. He does not agree with the left that a more active and intrusive government is the way to solve most of these problems.

Why should they be required?

Shouldn't that be my choice, whether to buy them or not?
