If you don't mind my asking, how old are you, roughly?
I'll explain what I've heard from my stepfather, a physician active in the AMA,if it fits. Just don't want to type it all out unnecessarily.
53 and 54
I liked my insurance, Highmark, they did right by me when I was sick and even though my monthly payments were high it is worth it. But now I won't be able to adjust the monthly payments and deductibles.
So much for "if you like your insurance you can keep it, Period"
Regardless, thank god I am one of the few who will keep the insurance of my choice until Dec 2014 instead of at the end of this year. At least I can wait for the fallout before my policy is terminated. Others are not so lucky.
I received a letter from my insurance company and it stated that my policy was being canceled because of ACA (Obamacare). The letter also stated that my policy met Obamacare minimums so my policy would not be terminated until December 31, 2014.
I called the insurance company and they said that most policies were terminated Dec 31, 2013 so what I don't understand is if my policy meets the mandate minimums why is it being canceled at the end of 2014.
Did your current insurance policy not change from year to year? or did you have to renew your policy after the year...year to year? has your coverage and premuims remained the same over the years?

Get off your backside and go do some research. It's not hard to figure out how things like this work unless you're lazy.

If your scenario was the case I would have been someone with a pre-existing condition come April.
Nope, we had the same insurance for over 20 years. As long as I continue to make my monthly premium payments it will continue.

Ignore list. Yea keep cheering for Obama, the welfare president so you can get your free stuff. PS, did you read where we opted for retirement because we are tired of paying high ass taxes to pay for people like you . We also opted to not hire more people people, who needs the extra stress of that. We are now going to take it easy. Why bust our asses only for the government to keep taking our money. And we don't get one government subsidy. I'll bet that chaps your ass.
Ok I found alot of new information that people will find helpful. The insurance company canceled all policies that were not medically underwritten. Since my policy was medically underwritten it can stay into effect until Dec 2014 at which point my policy will be terminated and I have to buy insurance that complies with Obamacare. There is alot more info and I will post it soon.
My current policy:
Monthly Payments: $478.25
Deductible: $2500 deduct
Out of pocket max: $2000
Co-Insurance (Co-Pay): 90/10
