Shake your head, because it's none of your doggone business what she does with her money. Or are you an agent of big government?
Like I said, stupid is as stupid does.
This is exactly the type of person who ends up going to PayDay loan places, getting themselves in such a deep hole that they can't recover, then complains that their minimum wage job doesn't pay a living wage, then maxes out 5 credit cards, etc. etc, etc.
So, you're right. Maybe it's none of my business how she decides to spend her money but someone with that poor of a decisionmaking ability about money needs a smack with the reality stick.
But here is the question. What does any of this have to do with the way she was treated in that store? No one seems to want to answer that question.
Sure, the purchase was ridiculous, but why do people care more about the purchase, and less about how that woman was treated? What does her spending $2500 have to do with her getting treated like crap?
And this isn't a rhetorical question. An answer is required.
You nailed it. If I recall, she used her debit card and the transaction was approved. There was no reason to pursue her, yet security chose to do so.

Well seeing how rampant consumerism is in our society, to try to pass judgment on this person's purchase would more than likely paint you as a hypocrite. I'm pretty sure if I looked at the budgets from a lot of her "critics," I could point out all the stupid purchases that they have made.
I wonder how many of these critics are regular Starbucks goers spending $5-10 on something that cost nickels (and should only be drunk w/ a teaspoon of sugar if you can't handle it black)? Over the course of a year, that comes pretty damn close to what she paid for a purse that she will probably keep for years.
Or how about spending $3-5k on laptops that they use to watch youtube and check their email?
Stupid purchases are par for the course in America. Somehow deciding that her stupid purchase is uniquely qualified to trump her freedoms is bullchit. And you know it.

As such, yes, it is "my" tax dollars. EITC needs to go away and be replaced with a deduction, only. NO ONE SHOULD GET WELFARE on tax day, when so many suffer to pay their taxes.
I know that I'm not always the sharpest knife in the drawer.. but what is so hard for some of these people to understand about the EIC? If the EIC worked like it should it would take ones tax liability to zero. They would get the amount of their taxes (less social security and medicare) that were deducted from the check back as a refund. No more...
After reading the article, I find out this girl is prego with her 2nd child, is only 21 and is a nursing student. Where's the husband?
What she really needs is a lesson in personal finance.
She obviously has some problems with making impulse decisions, both personally and financially. She also needs to learn something about delayed gratification.
I just shake my head.
The bigger issue is racial profiling. Period. This is violation of one's constitution rights. Let's blame the victim.

your argument makes no sense.
let people do what they want, instead of preoccupying yourself with them.
as i said in my other thread. those that spend time on the meaningless issue like the bag, are those that support/passively accept the gestapo like tactics used on these blacks.
If one is getting money from the government, no they should not be able to do with it whatever they want. I have no problems putting restrictions on it as things like EIC are suppose to be for making sure the kids are getting their needs met but as far as this story goes, it's an off topic discussion as far as we know.
I'm taking my tax return & spending it however the heck I want. I don't need the permission of the nanny state conservatives to tell me what I can & can't do with it. Small government my foot.

honestly, they dont care that she bought the bag. there just bringing it up to deflect from what happened to these blacks.
i maintain that if this was a white person, cons would be flocking saying were losing are civil liberties and we have a police state.
since its blacks, the argument is reduced to poor financial habits and caricaturing the victim.

Tax returns and EIC while related are two different things.
