the man's a national hero as far as i'm concerned.

No they did not cast doubt.
What they did was confirm what many speculated was going on.
There was already plenty of doubt and officials lied to everyone.

Clapper and Alexander come to mind with direct questions from Congress.

All Snowden did was to confirm that they all lied.

Snowden declares victory! And he's absolutely right

“For me, in terms of personal satisfaction, the mission’s already accomplished,” he said. “I already won. As soon as the journalists were able to work, everything that I had been trying to do was validated. Because, remember, I didn’t want to change society. I wanted to give society a chance to determine if it should change itself.”

Just as I said in the OP!

LOL. If this guy thought the American government was repressive, he's in for a heck of a shock when he sees the kind of repression America's enemies are capable of.

More people respected Snowden before he decided to trade US intelligence for a Brazilian beach. He is now officially a traitor with an inflated ego trying to enrich himself and better his situation using stolen material. Stupid move--he believes his own press and--it gets real cold in Moscow in winter. The guy lived in Hawaii.

I'm sure the people calling him a hero would have no trouble at all if he stole from them. He's been living in a bubble in Europe claiming he's "won" and gloating, but he will never be invited back home without criminal charges and his options are dwindling--Brazil turned down his generous offer of US intelligence. And now P*ssy Riot is out of prison and railing about Putin's restriction of free speech and human rights, while Putin tries to play the "statesman." Things in Moscow should get really interesting just in time for the Olympics! Wonder what Snowden will do if Russia chooses not to renew his asylum in the spring--put intelligence swap offers on Craig's List?

You're telling lies. I couldn't get past the first sentence because you started off with a bald-faced lie.

Anyone who is still calling Edward Snowden a traitor simply hasn't been following what's been going on. The National Security Agency has been violating the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and willfully lying to Congress about it. Since Mr. Snowden exposed the criminal activities of the NSA that ultimately makes him a whistleblower who should be prosecuted for exposing State secrets and then immediately have his sentence commuted.

This article is rather long for modern audience's attention spans but it's a must-read for anyone who wants to better understand the nuances of Edward Snowden's actions and why he as a patriot had to do what he did.

It's not about him thinking his home country was being "repressive" but rather about all those rights and privileges outlined in that little thing you call the "Constitution" being systematically whittled away before your very eyes.

You do know that the countries likely to host him, are not your enemies don't you? That's just another small facet of what Snowden is trying to tell/show you.

Edward Snowden's victory isn't complete as long as these two NSA shills keep playing the fear card.

NSA Defenders Play the Fear Card - YouTube

These NSA apologists need to be driven out of Congress and replaced by people who actually respect the U.S. Constitution to which they swore an oath to uphold. Representative Mike Rogers and Senator Dianne Feinstein are disgusting and have absolutely no decency!
