Confusing to who? Makes perfect sense to people with IQs over 50.What that woman won't do for attention! And who's paying her living expenses? She's employed by the government, as I recall. She couldn't possibly get this much time off work or have that much vacation time built up. Where's the money coming from to feed her face?Silly woman.Trayvon Martin's mother Sybrina Fulton testifies to Congress | Video | wtsp.com
She apparently thinks that God sent her here on a mission to make a stand against those who will make a stand against 17 year old criminal thugs. I pity her. God has not sent her here for anything other than to live her life according to his teachings, which have nothing to do with Stand Your Ground laws. Her 15 minutes of fame is long past. No one cares about what she has to say.
The problem with parents and other leaders of today's youth in denying the criminal acts of their children or the role that their children play in their own deaths is that it sends the wrong message to our children. In so doing it teaches our children that whatever they do is OK, that crime is OK, and that if harm comes their way because of their actions then that is not their fault and some else is to blame. It does take courage to stand up and accept responsibility when our children do wrong. The national response to this case did and does encourage youth all over the nation to commit crimes and in many cases to endanger their own lives in so doing. The saying, "My child is a good kid." is heard so often.

Yeah, along with "He just got caught up with the wrong crowd" and "He liked to make people laugh". No, chances are he *was* the wrong crowd and if laughing meant violence against others, he was a real comedian.
Well seeing that a person can shoot another person and as long as the person that was shot is killed then that shooter can just claim they were standing their ground and the one who was killed cannot disagree.

Maybe. BUT, that has/had absolutely NOTHING to do with the Martin/Zimmerman case. The Florida Stand Your Ground Law had nothing to do with that case. The entire defense was based on SELF DEFENSE, not SYG. It is a quite relevant question, though; what DOES the Federal Congress have to do with STATE laws? Why are they listening to testimony regarding a STATE law?

Crimminals tend to attack when you are least prepared. You see it quite a bit on the news. Attacks come unexpectedly. Shock value to paralyze the victim. Stand your ground makes perfectly good sense if assaulted unawares into a life threatening situation.
