The pilot of a Cessna 172 filed a 70 mile flight plan from Windsor Ontario to Pelee Island Ontario. Somehow he crossed the border undetected and made it as far as Nashville International Airport where he crashed and died beside the runway. It is believed his fiery crash happened sometime after 2am but it wasn't discovered until 8:30am. So... we have a lapse in border security and and crash at a major airport that wasn't noticed until hours later. wtf.

Hey, we have a healthcare website full of glitches we need to fix and immigration to focus on.
We dont have time to deal with this "secure borders" nonsense

I suspect a smuggling run but that doesn't excuse the many lapses in border security and aircraft tracking.

fly the cessna low enough that its under the radar, and yeah...they can fly over the pretty empty border. Radars aren't magic and 100%.

That is quite disturbing. That's a heck of a long ways to go without notice. Lots of heads need to roll for this.

He came in over Lake Erie, it's been a smuggler's route since rum-running boats in Prohibition, there should be radar to detect low flying planes coming in over the lake.,. and how can a plane approach and crash at major airport without being noticed? Cutbacks? Sleeping controllers?

It doesn't sound strange at all, tons of drugs and millions of illegals come over the border undetected.
