I still ran my company when the law was passed. Our benefit manager and I reviewed the regulations and both concluded that there wasn't a plan in California that was ACA-compliant. When we met with our broker she also said she didn't know of a single compliant plan. Her take was the insurance companies would have to either add ACA riders or cancel the plans. Almost any change to a plan rendered it null so she bet on cancellations. That's precisely what is happening.
Regardless of your position on the ACA (I'm a strong proponent of a national health plan) I think most intelligent people knew or now know it was a blatant lie to state "you can keep your coverage."
