This cut in food stamps is going to hurt the economy. Who are the geniuses in the federal government that think this is a good idea? The economy is still recovering. And food stamps have a stimulative effect on the economy.
It's not just the economy, it's ordinary WORKING Americans who simply aren't paid enough to buy their food. Here is a video made in 2007 celebrating the history of the food stamp program, which got its start during the depression era and has been revised several times.
Back when our government worked together instead of pointing fingers at each other, two great senators, George McGovern and Bob Dole, worked with each other to get the attention of other politicians to help people.
Warning, the video contains some graphic images of starving American children, including one who dies as the film is being made.
Video: Making America Stronger: U.S. Food Stamp Program
NOTE: This video contains some graphic images of the effects of malnutrition and hunger on children.
Making America Stronger commemorates the 30th anniversary of the of the reforms achieved by the Food Stamp Act of 1977 by telling the story of how food stamps dramatically reduced the extent of severe hunger in our country, how they continue to help Americans in need, and how this essential program can achieve still more.
I don't know how you derived any of that from what I said, and I don't want to know lol
Because the majority of who this affects are not the people that are able to work and just not trying and the people that are working, but having tough time in making ends meet. There is a relatively very small percentage that are whooping it up on the $4.80 a day.
5% isn't stimulating anything. And, there aren't any geniuses in the federal gov that decided to cut back the allowances, they were a temporary increase that had an expiration date when they were approved. We've hit that expiration date. So, benefits decrease. Pretty simple.
Nothing says "America" like cutting off the SNAP program for millions of kids. God bless America.
So how long do you propose these programs go on?
In theory all social programs are designed as a temporary means of getting through a rough patch until you get on your own two feet.
So while I am all for helping the physically disabled that cannot fend for themselves, many people have become dependent on social welfare programs and have no intention of ever getting off them. The social stigma of feeling embarrassed seems lost on them. Then again they may be part of a multiple generation of takers, and now feel entitled.
Just like the obese people who cannot leave their house have enablers to bring them food, so too are bleeding heart liberals nothing more than enablers for those who become dependent on society to take care of them.

I never said there were. Your assume that is what I meant. I merely said that the cut will be motivation to find a job or find better jobs....
