I'll keep it short and to the point; wen politicians try to obstruct or interfere with the free flow of human commerce, the forces of the market will find a way around the obstacle. Unfortunately, when the few (politicians and cronies, not entrepreneurs) abuse power, we all have to share the cost.

Take it to P&OC. It doesn't fit in Current Events and never will in History.

Which business taxes have increased? Is this more nonsense about how higher taxes on pesonal income above $400K and those awful new taxes on unearned income above $250K are somehow crippling "job creators" and small businesses? If so, you should turn off the spigot that is pumping such nonsense into your life. Many sorts of insurance costs have meanwhile been rising for many years. Lately the rate of increase in health insurance costs for one has been declining however. Cutting jobs of course leads to cutting product which leads to cutting profits. Businesses do not like to cut profits. Businesses like to expand operations and profits while whining about what a tough time they have.

Governments are like unions. They are the locus of countervailing power that keeps a lid on unbridled robber-baron corporate power. Corporations have just about succeeded in wiping out the ability of unions to have any effect or influence over them and they would very much like to do the same thing with governments. State governments have been all but taken out of the picture, so it's just the feds left to go. Those who fear world government should be very careful about building up incnetives for it.

Very likely. One side has no ideas, no answers, and no policies. Their notion of a "jobs bill" is to gut workplace and environmental safety regulations so that both people and resources can be monetized and exploited for profit. How come China gets to have all the really cool smog anyway?

I suppose you've read of the experiences of Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, etc.)? They already had high percentages of part-time workers, but they experimented with pushing it out even further in several test markets in the second half of 2012. They found that hiring and training costs, turnover, and employee theft all went up while product quality and customer satisfaction went down. Kind of suggests that there's a tipping point out there somewhere, and that the simplistic models of business that some believe in simply don't work.

To be honest,my employers were already offering expensive healthcare policies anyway.

In any event, you know as well as I do that employers wanted to cut hours even before Obama became President.
He is being used as a scapegoat. Remember, part time employees don't get sick, personal, vacation time etc.

Cutting hours and employees is a sign of corporate weakness. Can easily be taken as a sign to dump the stock or sell it short.
