I dunno, but in certain rundown parts of the town I see luxury cars.
Even then, thougj, is this opportunity really that big or plentiful?
lol, the owners of those cars are practicing capitalism and their product is .... (you figure it out), I hope you aren't that dumb. HINT: the product they sell isn't legal.

Well lets see.... the homestead act required at a minimum of three things... First they had to live on the designated land. The had to build the house and make improvements. ... Second they had to WORK the land... that might be a problem for some folks. And third they had to pay themselves the filing fee to claim the deed.
What are we going to do... Make land ownership a requirement now... I know.. another government program which requires us all to purchase land and fine us if we don't????

Compared to today's standards, the men and women that took advantage of the act were relatively poor.

True.. they were poor. And they were willing to risk everything they owned, and their own lives for that matter, to WORK their way out of that poverty. Nothing wrong with that. I fear that if we tried that today, all we'd get is folks crying that it wouldn't be fair that the house isn't already built for them, that it would be too hard for them to plant their own garden, and that there is no 50K job within walking distance and they couldn't afford the homeowners insurance... Like I said... Let's make a program for them.

I'd love to get free land if all I have to do is work it. Farming is a great career. So who is going to give me land?
Besides the farm, there is also that bit of building a house from scratch.
A used prefab house is pretty cheap. So are used tractors
