Jefferson - The 51st State - Northern California / Southern Oregon - A State of Mind
"very much alive" = People even have websites about it!

"many" = Absolutely nothing. The Green Party has 'many' supporters. So did the Presidential campain of Michelle Bachman. That's how meaningless your feeble touting of Jefferson is.

Jefferson! Failing to get even remotely close to statehood since 1941!

Yeah, I'm sure the legislatures of Oregon and California and Congress will get right on that...

Major loss not massive push.
The secession vote failed in six of eleven counties in Colorado. What is interesting is that in Weld County, the largest of the eleven, and the county that spearheaded the idea, it lost by about 8000 votes. In the counties where it won, there weren't even that many votes cast. These are very small counties, population wise. For example, in Phillips County, a grand total of 1790 votes were cast; 1114 "yes" and 675 "no". In Cheyenne County, 976 total votes were cast; 570 "yes" and 346 "no".

They would not be able to form "North Colorado" b/c they wouldn't have the required # of people.

51st state question answered "no" in 6 of 11 counties contemplating secession - The Denver Post

See vote counts.

My conservative brother and his wife recently moved from Boulder to Weld Co., and even they have determined the place if full of boneheaded rednecks. I think N. Colorado makes about as much sense as S. Wyoming. Which is to say, none.

Even here in the Mythical State of Jefferson, most of the people do not want to secede. It is just the Tea Party nuts being nutty. But of course, even if they did secede, they would immediately complain about the libruls in their midst who are not "real" N. Coloradoans or Jeffersonians, or whatever.

When someone lives in a tinfoil lined closet, they tend to develop a certain sense of self importance, mostly based on secret radio messages from Mars and the planet Zitlob.

I suspect that this could apply to some of the north Coloradans and the guy who started this thread.

Not me that's touting it, it is the folks that live there. Must admit to being very fond of the idea of any movement that wishes to distance themselves from the ever growing power of government control and creeping Marxism that has infected almost all levels of our society. Have never been to Northern Colorado, but would have liked to have seen them break away. Have been in Northern California and Southern Oregon many times, and very much like the area, and may move there. Would go much sooner if the State of Jefferson came into being.

Not so, besides conservatives, there are many Libertarians that support the idea. Conservatives and Libertarians do not agree on some issues, contrary to what leftists usually believe.
