What about people who aren't intelligent enough for STEM careers? Manufacturing jobs are no more so minimum wage service jobs are the only option.

Errr, it took about 15 years to get thru the Depression of the 30s plus WWII helped get the economic and industrial engines moving. This depression is nearly as bad as that one. It will take time and a few Dem Presidents to clean up the mess.

A good example of people that don't prepare for life or read a newspaper. Certainly, some people end up on the low wage scale due to no fault of their own, but they don't have to stay there. But for many people they just don't care to plan for a career or read a newspaper to see how the job market has and will continue to change.

As a person who grew up in the rust belt I knew at the age of 15 that times were changing and it was time to leave. At 18, I left (mid 1970's) went into the service and had a great career.

So, while low wage jobs are not great, they do offer a start or bridge the gap to a new career, job or self-employment.
