Democrat calls for law to require all doctors to treat Medicaid & Medicare patients...

You would think that when your political party is burying a hole that is getting harder and harder to get out of, you wouldn't want to that hole get deeper faster. Kathleen Murphy, Democrat running for the Virginia House of Delegates, believes it should law to force doctors to accept Medicare and Medicaid patients. Forced by government decree, mind you.

Rule with an iron fist. Soon people won't want to be doctors.

Democratic Party.

Ideas so good they are mandatory!

Gotta love the party of choice.

(PS: Republicans aren't that good either... Vote 3rd party)

its not about a shortage of doctors, its about the government forcing doctors to treat patients they dont want to treat for what ever reason. in other words it is government sponsored slavery for doctors.

The OP stated no one would become doctors. The article states that there are more medical school applicants and doctors being trained than ever before.

Just pointing out that when you look at these little things called facts, as usual, the OP is full of crap.

Its not slavery, if they want to practice medicine in this country, they need to be willing to take patients. If they don't, there are others who will take their place.

I also second that there is an artificial shortage of doctors created by the AMA, just to keep salaries high.

Plenty of people want to become doctors. The outmoded way that instruction is given and artificial scarcity has limited the number of people who could effectively practice medicine.

I don't think people realize how many regulations Medicare and Medicaid have. I am a Medicare biller and I deal with said regulations every single day. Prior to that I worked with Blue Cross which wasn't nearly as bad.

Medicare and Medicaid have a very low reimbursement rate compared to private insurances. Regulations and a low rate of pay are the main reasons why providers refrain from treating patients with a certain insurance carrier. Medicaid in NH for example has had a lot of issues lately. We haven't been able to bill out in 3 months. We have over 5 million dollars in claims that cannot be billed out because of a glitch in their system that has yet to be fixed. Can you imagine an independent provider having to wait that long to be reimbursed? The business would go broke! People seem to forget physicians need a source of income too.
