How? Well they're educated, hard working, have a commitment to doing things properly, don't sit around and blame the government or others for their failures and they actually have a commitment to making things and supporting local manufacturers.

Contrast that with our country where social ills bleed into schools, people can't afford to go to college, voting based on morals instead of rational thought and a tendency to blame the government instead of stepping up and taking ownership for ones own failures.

Germany is a great country with nice people. They deserve their success. They're a good role model for us, but we're typically too busy whining about things.

1. #3 is always "poised" to overtake #2.

2. The scenario in the article depends on the Euro strengthening against the American dollar. So it's not about production, it's about monetary worth.

3. I think that scenario is pretty optimistic on the part of the German chambers of commerce.

German is also highly unionized, has free universities, long vacations (third highest number of vacation days in the world) and universal healthcare.

All those things its been said would kill Americas ability to compete. In a less poisoned political environment, maybe this would jolt people into examining why the map America is using does not seem to fit the terrain.

That is one of the worst attempts to try to steal other people's money I have seen in a long time... none of that has to do with EXPORTS... you know moving PHYSICAL objects you made in your country to another country for sale...

What exactly are the German's exporting? How much of it are they exporting? What protectionist measures are in place? Where are they exporting to? When is all of this occurring? I hate journalism that can't answer 5 basic questions...

Germany poised to overtake U.S. as world's No.2 exporter this year: DIHK

FTA:

"Germany has the right stuff this year to overtake the United States into second place. That's due to the strong euro because trade data is calculated in dollars. Germany should also be able to hold onto second place in 2014 as well," DIHK foreign trade head Volker Treier said.
