First of all, its the first week of November and Christmas" decorations, in my opinion, are way too early. I think it is ridiculous that Christmas decorations are displayed for sale before Halloween. Seems each year gets earlier and earlier. It takes away from the meaning of the holiday when we are bombarded with seasonal decorations so far in advance of the holidays they represent.

Also, the U.S. has become very politically correct and we have strived to meet the wants and needs of everyone and to recognize the rights of all. I believe that people have the right not to have someone's holiday stuffed down their throats. Frankly, as a Christian, I find the display of Christmas decorations so early to be nothing more than a sign of commercialism. It simply removes the specialness of Christmas.

While I don't see any religious significance of a pumpkin and associated fall harvest symbols, I can accept the fact that some people don't see the significance.

I also believe that anything religious or holiday related does not belong in schools or other public places as what one may find cute and significant may not be construed by someone else.

Seasonal decorations are nice. Keep them in their season.

I am curious to know what Publix's response is going to be.

I mean really? people have nothing better to complain about?

At my kids school this poor kid couldn't decorate a pumpkin because the "parents don't believe in holidays"? WTH!!!

A discriminatory one for that matter.
They do cater to anyone, You are being discriminated against because they don't decorate for your holiday?, is not like you were wearing a Christmas hat and they told you to take it off, or change your "yay for Christmas" t-shirt. It may very well be a bad business decision but that's all it is, is not a war on anyone's values, you realize that is not your right for other people or businesses to decorate for your preferred holiday.

Not at all discriminatory so long as ALL holiday decorations are banned. If you were Jewish you may
feel that Christmas decorations are discriminatory against Jewish people.

Everyone from every race, religion and corner of the world may not find Christian symbols of celebration to be acceptable to them.

Religion should not be a practice of business.

I don't understand the outrage if you want to see Christmas decorations (btw 2 months before Christmas), then go a different store or hang them up in your house, your church, your cubicle, why are you upset that this one place doesn't have them which they probably will eventually anyway.
They were banned from our cubicles up north. I am not "religious", but I do enjoy the Christmas decorations.

We celebrate family at Christmas.

Our country was founded on Judeo/Christian principles...not to recognize a HUGE majority of our citizens celebration is poor business and political correctness taken to the extreme...I would not go to another country where my beliefs were in the extreme minority and expect them to display that which was related to my holiday...in fact I would just be happy not to be attacked and murdered because I was a Christian!!! Besides I have no objection to celebrating others religious celebrations in relation to the % of the population it includes...

I happen to be married to a Jewish boy...He and his family would never object to Christmas decorations in any store...in fact my late father-in-law stated many "a nice Jewish boy" in the retail business made plenty of $$$ off Christians during the holiday season...

That's fine. My point is that if there is an issue with any given holiday, they shouldn't then try to make money off said holiday.

They want it both ways. Bow down to the PC pressure, yet still make money off the holiday.

Personally I am an all inclusive person. Allow, accept and embrace all the different holidays. You don't have to practice any particular religion, but as long as it is peaceful then I am all for more.

So speaking of hypocrisy do you suppose if Publix was owned by Muslims or Hindus and opted to decorate in whatever style or manner necessary to celebrate their respective holidays, that the Christian population would show their support through NOT complaining to the corporate offices?
