Looks like there may be even more cases of rape by this group of police officers:

4 On Your Side reveals another traffic stop nightmare

Quote:
Young is taken to the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, and just like Eckert, he's subjected to medical procedures including x-rays of his stomach and an anal exam.

Again, police found nothing, and again the procedures were done without consent, and in a county not covered by the search warrant.
It may be best to avoid New Mexico for the time being if you value your civil rights...

Ha! The drug dog's cert expired in 2011. What is it with this police dept? Using 'expired' dogs, expired/out of jurisdiction warrants.. That dept needs to be reigned in. Time for ol' police chief to look for new work. In any case, it's clear police think they are above the law themselves and are out of control.

What used to be something only black people and dark skinned Hispanics endured pre-Civil Rights Act, now everyone has to endure. This abuse has been going on for a lot longer than most white people think. We need to start waking up as a society and start realizing that the US is not the perfect, free, and civil country that white suburbanites grew up thinking it was. The US is in many ways a 3rd world nation.

Too many people still have their head in the sand and refuse to acknowledge the problem even when presented with clear evidence. I was trying to get at this sort of thing in my "law & order types" thread the other day. There are many posters on this board who think that LEOs can do no wrong or should get a free pass for abuse "because their job is hard". Truth is most of these cops are the real bad guys, they simply use their job to shield themselves from prosecution. It is not a stretch to say that the cops who did this would likely be in jail by this time in their lives had they not become police officers.

This is becoming a national scandal, and it'll be interesting to see how Gov. Martinez manages this. Will she demand some sort of "cleanup" of the various corrupt/incompetent police departments within her own state, or will she ignore it or brush it aside?

The cops should face criminal charges as well as the judges. The medical staff should be doing community service.

People used to call me and other protesters crazy for signalling the Police State. Seems like everybody's waking up to what is going on in this country.

Was the stop itself even legal?

If he was leaving the Wal-Mart parking lot, presumably the stop sign was on Wal-Mart property. I'm not sure if police officers can enforce a stop on private property.

The dude got a free anal exam, finger probing, and colonoscopy. He should be grateful.

Free? I thought the hospital was billing him for the privilege of being, um, "examined.
