Really? Here's my very next post on this thread (post 27):
No, I don't buy that. Even after the election, he had nearly a year to prepare people for reality and they kept saying the same thing.
You guys on the right are like Captain Ahab, you're so obsessed with getting the whale, you're going to let it destroy you.
The fact is, there's a lie here and it's from Obama, but you guys don't even see it.
This is what happened:
Obama took single-payer off the table before he even got into office.
He then negotiated with the insurance companies and they got him to remove the public option. He, and the Democrats, blamed the Republicans. You guys don't even fight back on this one because you hate Obama so much, you're willing to take the hit for killing the public option.
As another thread near the top here points out correctly, the insurance companies essentially wrote the entire ACA themselves, including the new criteria. At some point in this process, someone from the administration straight up asked the insurance companies about the new criteria and they LIED to the administration. But now Obama can't throw them under the bus, because then he has to admit that he basically let them write the entire thing and that the GOP was actually never to blame for not being single-payer and not having the public option. He just has to eat it.
But this is way worse than simply saying he lied about how many people would lose their insurance. Because you hate Obama so much you're letting the Democrats slip away (you're going after this, not the entire process, in fact, the GOP has already embraced the role of villain in killing the public option). Obama's not going to run for office again, he's basically a lame duck, the Congressional Democrats can now throw Obama under the bus and chastise him for messing it up, and since they've kicked the government shut-down/debt ceiling can down the road into election year and primary season, they're free to turn the tables on the GOP, and Clinton, the likely front runner for 2016 can't be tied to Obamacare at all.
