There's no possible way to use "voice recognition" technology to identify the British ISIS beheading terrorist if there was not an active collection and database of voices to compare to.

How do you think the British Government (ie. the US Government) could have possibly had possession of this guy's voice AFTER becoming an ISIS terrorist if it had not collected that voice PRIOR to his terrorist activities?

Those of you who think that your government is not collecting voice calls are woefully naïve and, quite frankly, dangerously apathetic.

I do not assume that there is any evil that "our" government is unwilling or unable to inflict upon "its" subjects. To me, it is a given the government will actively pursue any and every means of controlling and manipulating people to benefit the State.

Our government could care less what we think. It will do what it wants to do regardless. It's disgusting.

If the machine can understand MY accent, more power to it

I don't doubt the govt doing anything anymore..I think most of us here agree there is no privacy left for us nor is there any honor left in the US govt...just a nasty business these days.

Yep....but our government would never let that happen!

I am convinced that NSA spying on voice calls is taking place...has been taking place....and will take place from now on. There's nothing anyone will do about it.

Sounds like a good reason to collect voice signatures.

The State cannot stop Agorism or counter-economics any more than they can stop the wind. How strong that wind becomes is entirely dependent upon how many people truly want to be free. It really wouldn't take too many people acting freely to destroy the State...it is already on its way down...

According to the link, the voice was identified by a former hostage.

Since when can technology link speech to an individual out of hundreds of millions of people?
