YES THEY SHOULD!!! Kids these days have absolutely no discipline. The kids are out of hand and extremely disrespectful. They need to be put in their place. If teachers were allowed to discipline their students, maybe our future generation of kids would be less stupid and would be more focused on success rather than social life.

I remember when I was in parochial school and if you got out line. The nuns would whack you over the knuckles with a ruler....OUCH Believe me you wouldn't dare get out of line next time!

Absolutely not.

They should be allowed to hit the students parents.

I grew up when corporal punishment was still common in school. My father had a short conversation with the principal of every school I attended. It went something like this:

Quote:
If he needs to be paddled, call me and I will come to the school and paddle him. If you lay a hand on him, I will come to the school and paddle you.
One principal didn't listen and my father broke his paddle on his desk. Broke the desk, too, for that matter.

In short, if schools were to reinstitute corporal punishment, I would have the same conversation that my father had. Nobody lays a hand on my children except for myself or their mother. Spankings are a rare event in their lives (much more rare than they were in mine), and I'm not about to have a stranger changing that fact.

Teachers should not be allowed to hit students.

But teachers should be allowed to spank them, or smack the backs of the hands with a ruler, etc. as needed.

Not unless you extend it to the general population. Teenagers act like jackasses outside of the classroom, too. Teachers shouldn't have special privileges.

There was this one teacher back in high school that I wouldn't have complained about if she had spanked me.
