If someone outside of the U.S read theses boards daily, they would quickly come to the conclusion that the united states must be overwhelmingly conservative; however, hard core conservatives like the ones blowing these boards up every day are a pretty small minority in this country. I get the fact that these people have a huge problem with the direction that this country is going, which translates to them being a lot louder than the left, so it makes perfect sense. I didn't really start going on forums outside of sports until the last few years. I was wondering what this forum was like when everyone hated Bush? Were the hard core lefties as crazy as the idiots that make these ridiculous threads today. For the record, I am neither a Republican or a democrat, and I take pride not voting as much as I do enjoy following politics for entertainment purposes.

I wasn't here then either but the hard core conservatives insist that it was just like this - only with unhappy Democrats starting one whining thread after the other.

when things started going bad for Bush during his second term everyone jumped ship. But during his first term with the run up to the Iraq war, if you posted that you were against the war you would be called out for being anti-American, part of the "blame America crowd" and a litany of unhinged (but to them quite normal) insults.

It's good that you aren't a Republican or Democrat. It will allow you to look at ideas and issues with reason and not ideology. Once someone becomes too ideological they cease to be governed by reason. Confirmation bias takes over and they will only look for information that suits their argument while ignoring everything that is problematic for it.

Basically people, especially the Democrats, did a 180.

Today Democrats are for the Patriot Act, NSA, more drones over more countries with more countries protesting over air space sovereignty and more civilians droned, for torture so long as it is renditioned out to another country, lobbyists in the WH, speical interest donor access, no-bid contracts including to Haliburton subsidiaries, executive privilege, more special forces in more countries, Presidents not needing Congress to act with military when it is not a threat to the USA (Libya and almost Syria), presidents not needing to follow the War Powers Resolution in only using military force for 60 days without congressional approval (Libya), etc...

Lib and progs, hyped and hopped up on BDS would post the most astonishingly bitter comments. I mean, dear God, 5% unemployment, you would've thought the world was coming to an end.

Everyone joined hands singing kumbaya as a daily occurrence. Barack Obama, a registered user on this site at the time, didn't enjoy the way things were going and found a way to change that

Don't know about C-D, but in general, it was bad on the web. You'd think Bush was satan... it was really bad.

But if that administration had done what the Obama one has, they'd have been crucified and roasted by now. Being (R) and the Texas connection, they didn't have the media and entertainment industry on their side... quite the opposite.

C-D is today what it was like at the onset of conservative talk radio in the early 80's.

It been this way since the early days of Rush. 30+ years of "outrage". Conservatives took a ass whooping with Nixon, so the needed a Reagan Revolution to make them feel better. They were emboldened with the defeat of Carter and the new conservative coalitions that got Reagan elected.

They have been looking to relive that 'fix' ever since. They're like a bunch of Heroine addicts unable to find a vein for 30 years...
