Detroit Girl Shot Dead 'While Seeking Help'
Really? So did this happened in FL and is the shooter seeking a defense under the FL stand your ground law?

Michigan does have a SYG law, though.
See Section 780.972, Sec. 2, (1)(a)and (b)

The above is for information purposes only, and is completely irrelevant to the discussion at hand, as is the Detroit tragedy.

NO one needs a SYG law to defend yourself, family, or property.

Good. That keeps the burden of "not getting shot", on the criminal. Maybe it'll help him re-evaluate his life choices, and maybe get him to change jobs.

And it keeps self-defense "not a crime".

SYG is a good law and prevents innocent bystanders from being shot by accident. People need to understand the concept of both the law and its application before they criticize it.
