You can't pay someone crumbs, then chastise them for not contributing to the system.
They get market wages. They get paid what their work is worth. If you're unhappy about that, STOP buying products and services. No more iCrap, etc., for you. Shun the corporations you revile.

Here's a 'moral' thought for you regarding health care.
Why aren't you campaigning for all the poor people of the world?
Isn't it sick that you have a computer and probably a car and a refrigerator and so much else when so many are dying in 3rd world countries?
Where is your compassion, man??
Actually, you should probably find deserving recipients of the cash without even leaving your city. Don't be so greedy and selfish.
Once you've lived up to what you preach, come back.

...why would the Dems want to shrink their voter base by lifting people out of poverty? Of course, they wouldn't. Strategically, that would be a mistake that would cost them significant amounts of political power.
That's exactly what Democratic policies did in the 1930s and 1940s and the middle class grew. It got the the point where President Eisenhower said this:
So many years and poverty balloons. It's amazing that anyone believes that government can fix it.
Well seeing that there's an entire world out there with different systems (some better) when it comes to the issue of income distribution, it would only make sense.
Maybe the issue is too complex for some, but others of us see exactly what's going on.
