“The ethanol era has proven far more damaging to the environment than politicians promised and much worse than the government admits today. As farmers rushed to find new places to plant corn, they wiped out millions of acres of conservation land, destroyed habitat and polluted water supplies.”
The government is not known for producing solutions... Only complicating already complex issues. And whatever happened to all those poor starving folks both here and abroad? That corn could have fed a great many people. Oh well, the Obamas probably figure they'll have to settle for cake.

Support for the ethanol industry is seen as inextricably linked to presidential politics. The first presidential nominating contest takes place in Iowa, one of the country’s largest producers of corn, and few candidates in the last few presidential races have been willing to consider reducing ethanol subsidies.
Few candidates? Name ONE!!!!
And there, my friends, is why government giveaways to favored industries and individual businesses will NEVER end.
Well naturally. If it was an issue before the government got involved, and it becomes an even greater issue after they intervene, what's the natural solution? MORE government intervention Basically, it's job security for the do nothings in Washington.
I think the saddest thing about this "alternative fuels" farce is that it removes vital food supplies from the market, driving up prices that the poor and underprivileged cannot afford.
Americans have little idea just how important corn is to those in other countries.
40% of all corn grown in the U.S. ends up in the production of ethanol. Think about that with the price you pay for any product that uses corn in its process.
In 2008 Barack Obama turned his back on the starving poor around the world, and our irreplaceable topsoil, common sense, working Americans, and the environment. He sold his soul for a job he's no good at anyway.
