What does "Be quite!" mean? Be quite what?

I tend to just ignore PETA.

One good thing PETA does is that it spends millions of dollars each year to provide free neutering and spaying of tens of thousands of cats and dogs.
I wonder how much they spend locking strays inside freezing lockers?

Besides without Rush Limbaugh's monetary support, they'd be history.

Yes, it is almost as played-out as "G-d made Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve!!" Oy vey. As for the misspelling, maybe they want you to be quite quiet?

In terms of PETA, I'm a HUGE animal lover, advocate, rescuer, volunteer, etc... and about 90% vegetarian, save the occasional poultry just because I need protein (and dislike most veggie alternatives). But you know what I can't stand? People TELLING me what to do, wear, or eat, especially when their tactics are bordering on domestic terrorism. I would say "well, at least they're saving animals," but I'm not even sure about that. So yeah, they can shove it IMO.

As to pets, PETA believes animals should not be kept as pets, and that we never should have domesticated animals for that purpose to begin with. Their position about shelters is that animals in no-kill shelters are often horribly mistreated, and it's actually more human to kill them. Keep in mind they wish there were no shelters at all because they wish there were not such things as pet animals.
Well, humans did domesticate them long before we ever came along, so their position is wrong. What are we supposed to do, send all the dogs back out into the wild? Kill them? Cows, back into the wild? See where I'm going with this?

Do they oppose women breast-feeding?

That's what everyone should do IMO. They are so out there and radical that most people stop listening to them.

PETA is not actually about the humane treatment of animals. PETA is about PETA. Their stance on animals is a hook to entice a radical minority of naive but well meaning individuals who would cut off their left foot to save a chipmunk from a cat.

Okay, wasn't sure. But you raised exactly the point of why I don't really understand PETA. If they love animals and want to help them, volunteer at the SPCA or the Humane Society. Why do they have to be so smug and in your face about it?
