liberal extremists have proposed bizarre taxes on ammo in recent years. would they be okay if cheap ammo was sold, and shot, at shooting ranges? or is this already happening and I don't know about it?

Why?

Ammo sold at ranges have sales tax applied just like any other product you purchase, while I don't always agree with taxation methods why would ammo sold at ranges be tax exempt?

I am not talking about a simple sales tax. I am talking about the liberal extremist freaks that think bullets should be taxed extra. like sin taxes for booze and smokes.

Oh, I see. I'm certainly no liberal because I have common sense and the ability to thing for myself therefore no, I don't think any ammo should have any sort of sin tax applied to it. That includes lead, primers or brass since I reload 85% of the target rounds I shoot.

I understand what you're saying (that the large tax proposed for ammo shouldn't be imposed if purchased on ranges), but I don't agree.

First of all, why should I pay more for ammo if I choose not to shoot at the range but may, instead, end up using it if I fire my gun in self defense? Whose business is it, anyway?

I don't agree with draconian taxes for any legal product, BTW, be it booze, cigarettes, or ammo. That, along with this latest push to require what gun-grabbers hope will end up being cost-prohibitive insurance for all gun owners (except those who have them illegally, of course) is just another example of busybodies trying to control everyone.

Let's not be pansies, folks.

Live free or die.

I don't agree with any of it, and I would love to punch everyone who wants to tax bullets in the face. that being said, the question was for the extremist liberals who think bullets should cost $48,000. free abortions though, but that is another issue.

Liberals in my state of Washington have tried for years to get a state income tax enacted but knocked flat on their rears every time they try. So they have turned to sin taxes, which is ironic since this is one of the most atheist/agnostic states of all 50.

Anyway we have the highest booze tax in the nation. We're number 5 in cigarette taxes:
Monday Map: State Cigarette Tax Rates, 2013 | Tax Foundation

When it comes to gambling the state has taken a different approach. They banned on-line gambling since it is so dangerous, harmful, and addictive, but granted themselves a monopoly on running gambling, along w/ their cronies the Indian tribes.

I'm surprised that they having thought of the ammo tax idea, but then WA libs know better than to mess with gun owners. Every time they do they again find themselves flat on their political rears.

I see no reason why ammo should be any more "tax exempt" than shoes or chairs.

Federal courts have already declared that an unusually huge tax, at least on firearms themselves, is a direct violation of the 2nd amendment and is an infringement on the people's right to keep and bear arms. A huge tax on ammo would be the same.
