Herbert Spencer

Technology is going to eliminate all our jobs... people have been saying this since the beginning of the industrial revolution.
Actually it is slowly.

Kodak employed over 150,000 workers at one point
Now we have instagram...13 workers.

You don't because you can't.

The question becomes..what do you do when they spent all the money before the next check and need food and can't pay the rent now ?

What is the plan B for when they spend the money and need more to get them though ?

The stipend would be in addition to your regular work pay...so those engineers and nurses would not be making the same as unskilled workers. It is an idea that would improve lives and the economy but, unfortunately, there are too many people crying about 'socialism' for it to ever pass.

American basic income: An end to poverty?
What an idiotic idea. Who pays for it? Remember, the government has NO money, other than the money it gets from taxes and fees.

The government is throwing more money out than it collects now, how do you propose it cover providing a "basic" income to every adult?

??? Why can't you? Put the money on EBT cards and we'll see exactly where the money is spent.

And ? USDA doesn't release that report. It's top secret.
No one knows what is bought with EBT money except the USDA and they ain't talking.

They cited "for competitive reasons" to keep the data secret.
Who the heck is competing with SNAP ?

The progressives will tax corporations for this
Since they are the ones that put people out of jobs it's their duty to pay for this.

You offer a basic income to every citizen and we'll be flooded with pregnant immigrants and tourists.

Put the money on EBT cards and we'll find out exactly how the money is spent.

Do a limited pilot program to test it. Some people will totally blow the money and some will build wealth by spending it wisely. If we could sort out the two extremes, we could target it to the people who would make best use if it and tell the wastrels to bugger off
