To: Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House
Harry Reid, U.S. Senate Democrat Leader

Congress has passed and President Bush has vetoed H.R. 1591, the Iraq Surrender Act of 2007.

This legislation, which you worked to pass, sets a timetable for surrender. It pulls the rug out from under our troops. That is shameful and wrong.

Your actions have already emboldened the enemy. Violent jihadists now know that the elected leadership of Congress would undermine the troops by holding their funding hostage to demands for surrender.

This Congress would bring us back to the dark days of the 1970s, when the world doubted our staying power. Except only much worse. Withdraw in April 2008, and on May 1, Iraq becomes an unchecked den of terrorism at the heart of the Middle East -- a new base for the same people that struck our homeland on September 11th.

I stand with our troops.

I stand for victory.

I support the President's veto and will urge my representatives to vote to sustain it.

There can be one and only one outcome in Iraq: We win, they lose.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SR# 112207-01
Nov. 22, 2007

By Spc. Ryan Stroud
3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division Public Affairs

BAQOUBA, Iraq (Nov. 22, 2007) – Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, gathered in what was known as the “Grey Wolf” Square at Forward Operating Base Warhorse, outside of Baqouba, Iraq, for a dedication ceremony and renaming of the square to honor a fallen friend and Soldier, Staff Sgt. Donnie Dixon.

Dixon died of wounds received in combat Sept. 29. Those who proudly served with him during the brigade’s deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08 gathered to render one last salute and unveil the dedication sign which bears Dixon’s gleaming smile at the newly-named square, Nov. 22.

“This dedication was very important because Staff Sgt. Dixon was a great guy, father, leader and friend,” said Whitaker. “He sacrificed everything he was known for to come over here and try and make Iraq a better place.

The Dixon Square is used by the Soldiers stationed at Warhorse as a hang-out spot – a place where they can call their families, get online or grab some well-deserved coffee or pizza.
With new Soldiers coming and going from Warhorse everyday, Whitaker said he hopes those coming in will take notice of the efforts and achievements Dixon made for his unit, his country and his family.

GOD BLESS OUR SOLDIERS EACH AND EVERY ONE!
AND HOPE THAT THEY KNOW THAT NOT ALL AMERICANS ARE AGAINST THEM IN THEIR FIGHT.
THERE ARE AMERICANS IN THIS COUNTRY THAT ARE PROUD OF ALL OUR SOLDIERS.

1st opinion:

This "terrorist" enemy is not without justification. Our government's actions over the last decades have led to this state of affairs. Every day we don't solve the problem is another day that destroys us. We're doing this to ourselves. Your solution is tried and true...and always unsuccessful. Using your way, the way of the vicious circle, winning IS losing. In your zeal to be patriotic to the troops and your country, you unfortunately undermine any peaceful effort at resolution. The only way to end this is to cut off the funding. That's a pretty strategic solution, one the military itself would employ. How many times has a general had to decide between two paths both of which ended in civilian or military deaths? Because of our years of acquiescence to our government's misdeeds, we are now in the position of making similar difficult choices. Every man and woman in the service is honorable (including those who go AWOL in my opinion) because they put their lives on the line. But only the intelligent and peace-loving will pause long enough to realize that a vicious circle is nothing to participate in and cannot exist without funding.

2nd opinion (from my other personality):

Rah, rah, rah. Let's kill, kill, kill. Let's also spend, spend, spend until no country is left for the troops to return to. If this is what you want, then stop typing and go fight this stupid war yourself if you're that convinced of the exaggerated lies you've been fed. You'll kill them, they'll kill your kids, your grandchildren will kill their grandchildren, etc.

Or, better yet, start paying for the war yourself. You don't need a paycheck when there's armor to be purchased and limbs to be reattached! Support the cause! Buy some depleted uranium for those Muslim scum, develop new torture techniques, imprison Americans who disagree so the world will better appreciate the actions of our righteous troops, question everyone else's patriotism because that's all that matters, "If you're a real American, you'll show me your Real ID", "OK, children, who wants an implant chip!?"

OK, let's exaggerate the future so we can see the present more clearly, shall we?
