There has never been a Secretary of Defense filibustered as was the case with Chuck Hagel.

This is the short list, many executive positions have met the same fate.

Yes the democrats have also filibustered nominations but this is extreme, the agreement a few months ago when they walked up to the edge was that the minority party would only filibuster in cases where there was an extreme question of character. They violated that agreement.
You mean the republican hagel...

There was a reason he was fillibustered. He was not up to the position and obama knew it would stir the republicans so he could then get his real choice thru... Kerry.

Look the republicans in the senate are a bunch of spineless hacks but they do things to get something. The problem is most of the time what they want is not in the best interest of the people.

But the nuke option is a bad precedent. It tells me that reid knows the dems are in trouble in 14 and they need to ram as much progressive things thru before the gig is up.

So they are all hypocrites.
What else is new?

The fact remains that there have NEVER been as many holds and filibusters during any ONE presidency as there have been during Obama's. That is indisputable. And it is indefensible.
The fact also remains that, after having a tyrant like Bush, liberals are still defending an even bigger tyrant like Obama! This is indisputable, and absolutely indefensible.

Ideologues have become so predisposed and consumed with their envy and greed, that they've become blinded to their own demise.

EXP: Obamacare

Pitch: everyone will get affordable, subsidized coverage. Everyone will be able to have health insurance and not only will it lower their premiums, but it will lower the national debt. And you'll be able to keep your doctor, period! And keep your plan, period!

Truth: None of the above.

I'll bet if I track the liberal posters in here, I can find umpteen instances that you/they repeated those lies as if it were the gospel.

You want to talk about indefensible when you clearly have a problem with the definition of the term. Benghazi, gun walking, IRS targeting, NSA data mining, the NDAA signed at 1am New Years day... and on, and on, and on!

Let's focus on how the president should be able to ram through anyone he wishes to, without question. After all, jobs and the economy are the last thing he cares about. It's all a sideshow to get people off the Obamacare lies, and abject failure. This is par for the course. When Obama makes a mistake, and gets caught, he punishes citizens. Can you not see he and Reid are dismantling the Constitution, word by word, right before our eyes?

Only in your world could the minority be blamed for everything. At least Clinton knew how to cross the aisle. It took all of the D's and R's coming together to give him his surplus and make him your liberal rock star.

Obama has never crossed the aisle. In fact, the first thing he did was lock out the Republican senators from the ACA lawmaking process. how does that translate into bipartisanship?

He is so extreme, and has so little grasp of how the government actually functions, that every budget HE presented to HIS SENATE was unanimously struck down. Reid and Obama are nothing but dysfunctional parents.

That sounds about right to me!

It's more spiteful lawmaking. They will break the government before giving up their power. Isn't it wonderful?

Like Prince Harry does?. Quit being disingenuous, or an idiot, one. Either or. Your pick. But, one of the characterizations is dead on.

Funny how every time I mention this little fact, the righty nut jobs suddenly find something else to talk about:

The GOTP openly declared that they would opposed everything Obama might even think he might want to do before the crowd had even left the inaugural ceremony in January 2009.

The next morning, they and their paid their mouth breathers started posting on anonymous Internet forums that Obama was "divisive."

Can we, for once, not make this into a Republicans vs Democrats/Conservatives vs Liberals thing? While the obstruction by the Republican party has been particularly unrelenting since Obama took office, obstructionism by the minority party has been an exponentially growing issue over the last few decades.

Congress can only blame themselves for abusing the filibuster to the point that the whole system has to be thrown out.

This is great news. When Republicans take over the senate, house, and presidency we can easily repeal Obama(doesn't)care. We can also put normal judges back in, not radical ones.
