of course I am considering a period in the future when the President is a republican.... that being said, history tends to repeat. that day is coming and Dingy Harry just made it more simple for Republicans to get rid of that law...

I've been alive long enough to see Democrats in control of the senate and see Republicans in control of the senate.
Yet another step closer to fundamentally changing America.

Why wasnt it a "bitter pill" when Democrats were blocking nominations?

Why is it different today than back in 2005 when Frist suggested doing this?

I disagree. Our political system is working just fine. It's all about checks and balances and what is going on is only a natural outbreak when one party shoves a highly unpopular law down another party's throat. And then not only doesn't it work, but every promise made to the American public turns out to be a lie.

Huh. The GOP has made history once again. In a very bad way.

And no one in Washington thought that the GOP wouldn't do the exactly the same thing the second they ever get a Senate majority, mainly because they know they abused the filibuster in historic proportions and Dems would respond in kind as a minority.

It's about order of magnitude --- McConnelll and company have employed it in greater frequency for the flimsiest of reasons. See jmqueen's graph for reference.

Default Breaking! Senate Democrats vote "Nuclear Option on filibusters!

From the OP's link:

The rules change only applies to executive and judicial nominees, not Supreme Court nominees.

More like a firecracker than a nuke. But then, the "liberal media" tend to make everything blown up to 10x life size. They're competing against smart phones for your attention.

Obama just essentially declared the party system in the US obstructive and obsolete justifying his mandate to be carried out for the good of the people.

He joins other historical dictators who have been reviled, prosecuted and forcefully removed.

Obama's flag says .... "NO NEGOTIATION"

We are finished as a nation.
