Such programs should be minimal; at best. if you or others had those "children," you and others should be responsible for their lives. Period, end of story. If not, don't spread your legs or pull it out.

Yes, I believe birth control, including abortion should be legal and wide spread. In fact, I believe it should be tax payer subsidized and more. Should be more available then it is.

Let us END the problem of overpopulation, BEFORE it even begins. Its cheaper in the long run. Have children and want them? YOUR problem; not mine. Don't make me or society pay for your mistakes.

Government uses guns and violence as a means to achieve its ends, does that line up with your view of morality?

That isn't the question.

Can a government do something moral....that was what I asked.

***Side note: We freed millions of imprisoned Jews during the Holocaust with guns and violence....so depending on the circumstances...it can line up with my view of morality***

***side note*** Anyone who believes that violence doesn't solve anything has never fired a belt fed firearm. Violence solves a whole ton of things, quite swiftly I might add.

Yes but not how it is now. I would have no problem with private charity taking over a lot of the programs because I believe they can run them better than government. Also, I would have no problem with social services being in a way that if you want to donate you can. By social programs there are two kinds, the pay as you go like social security and medicare and the ones where it is often provided to people who made poor choices, like food stamps and medicaid. In the case of social security if people want to contribute they can and people are receiving benefits they paid for. In the cases of programs like food stamps and medicaid we need to severely restrict these so that people aren't living off these programs, taking advantage or receiving benefits they don't deserve, like illegals. Yes I would love to see the welfare freeloaders pushed off the system and required to get a job, even if it's McDonald's.

That sounds like a good definition of a private-charity safety net. And I agree completely with you.

While I believe that a safety net is absolutely necessary, forcing people to participate and/or contribute, is wrong on many fundamental levels and must never be done.

Forcing, BTW, is the only thing government can do. And that is why government's authority must be carefully restricted to only necesary functions that private people ro groups CANNOT do.

So does the o.p. contend that voting to have the government use guns to give poor people money make them moral, compassionate and charitable?

Just curious.
No. There should be NO federal programs whatsoever.
