Why do we allow the idiots in government to pass these ridiculous laws? In OH, it's illegal to have a secret compartment in your car. We should all add a secret compartment and drive to OH in protest. This is what happens when you have idiots in government who have nothing better to do than to pass oppressive laws. Why have we allowed the government to tell us that we cannot alter our cars? This is the Big Government Nanny State at it's pathetic best.

Norman Gurley, 30, is facing drug-related charges in Lorain County, Ohio, despite the fact that state troopers did not actually find any drugs in his possession.
Ohio passed a law in 2012 making it a felony to alter a vehicle to add a secret compartment with the “intent” of using it to conceal drugs for trafficking.
Gurley is the first actual person arrested under the law. WKYC in Northeast Ohio covered the arrest, with no notable journalistic skepticism whatsoever:
Oh, and the hidden compartment law exempts vehicles being operated by law enforcement officers, so if state troopers can come up with an excuse to use the ride they just grabbed, they may be able to keep it for themselves.

Always rich when the folks who gave us the anti-drug hysteria of the 1980s attempt to pass themselves off as liberty-loving civil libertarians in the 21st century.

Civil libertarians would never support this asinine Ohio law.

Secret compartment? I still have not figured out where they hid the jack and tire wrench in my Subaru. Are secret compartments built in by the factory included in the Ohio ban? Just asking.

I was once stopped for a "broken" license plate light because the cop though an old Buick on a back road at night was obviously transporting dope or moonshine. I was doing neither. This was in New Hampshire, a "small" government state.
IMHO all dope should be legalized, quality assured and taxed enough to pay for rehabilitation for those that want to quit before they die.

I have no idea how they would ever prove "intent".

It's not a secret compartment. It's an "undocumented feature".
