Data Show China Passing US as Biggest Oil Importer

BEIJING—China passed the United States in September as the world’s biggest net oil importer, driven by faster economic growth and strong auto sales, according to U.S. government data released this week.
Chinese oil consumption outstripped production by 6.3 million barrels per day, which indicates the country had to import that much to fill the gap, the Energy Information Administration said this week.
It is interesting, actually. They will be more addicted to ME oil, and we will be less addicted.

We pay about $120 during the summer and $75 during the winter because we don't run the AC. It's been the same for years.

My bills have been going down because I have been using less electricity ... yes, I'm one of those people who got a free "energy audit" and started replacing light bulbs and when the time came to buy a new washer and dryer I got "Energy Star" rated ones.

If you are only spending 120 on elec in Miami you really aren't using much electricity. AC alone in the summer, especially can run a bill up very quickly, even at nominal settings. Florida elec rates are not among the lowest.

Well that is an over simplification. One must take into account the petrodollar. One way or the other changes are taking place though.

There are almost 20 countries whom have currency swaps in place with China all in order to side-step the U.S. Dollar in global trade. At the China Money Report, we have written extensively on the "Rise of the Renminbi". What is new and largely unreported and what we will cover in this article is the "Rise of the Petroyuan," as China is now converting its oil imports into Chinese Yuan as opposed to U.S. Dollars. This will be a new challenge and possibly the fatal blow to the U.S. Dollar as the dominant global reserve currency.

Same with us and our electricity rates have gone down because of it.

The question is does that make sense? I'm not against gas but there is no reason to unnecessarily burden one fuel in favor of another. Only good things can come about where you have two fossil fuels competing against other in the electric market.

I was specifically addressing someone that had system installed in their house.Storage can double the cost of those systems and they aren't even competitive without storage. For those system to ever be competitive in the future they will need the grid so they can dump excessive power into it and take power when they need need it.
