I'm sad that say that this is not surprising. Omaha might have a low murder rate, but the major of persons being murdered in Omaha are Black, and consider that there are about 56,000 Blacks in Omaha, it doesn't surprise me to hear about the Black homicide rate being so high in Nebraska. Most of Nebraska's Black population lives in Omaha, most of the state's murders are in Omaha, and Omaha has one of the poorest Black populations in the nation. High level of segregation, high level of poverty and broken homes.
Thirty black people — including 27 people in Omaha — were killed in homicides in Nebraska in 2011. That translates to a black homicide rate of 34.43 per 100,000 people — twice the national average.
That's nothing. There is small city near me, population is 40K and 11% black so that's about a black population of 4400. There was about 14 homicides in that city last year and without looking in up I'll say 10 of them were black on black murders. That's a rate of 227 amonst the black population, that's not a typo. The rate for the whole city is somewhere around 35.
The entire county has a population of about 300K and if we exclude that small city the rate is about 2, that's not a typo either.
This MUST be the fault of the TeahadliKKKans!!!! Just like when Red States have poor stats on Education.....this is mainly caused by Red State KKK'ers robbing minorities of their ability to get educated, so sad and shocking!
