How can he claim the authority to delay portions of Obamacare? This is a law passed by Congress. How can the President change the law on his own?

He isn't changing anything. He is allowing for time needed to make fixes. The law will remain in place. If actual changes or amendments to the law are made, they are changed thru congress like every other law in the land. But you already know that you are just trying to get comments. Feel better now?

Not an Obama supporter, but I'll answer anyway.

He's not *technically* changing the law. He's only enforcing portions of it selectively. Law enforcement falls under the executive branch, so he's able to do that.

The thing about how he's going about it is that the law hasn't actually been changed, so presidential promises or not, if you're not following it, you're in violation of the law. I'll bet the lawyers for all the big companies that are supposed to be providing compliant policies for their employees are pulling their hair out about that.

It's a complete disaster. If Obama and the Democrats had shown ANY interest in working with Republicans in the first few years, instead of cutting them out of the process and ramming crap through without any regard for the half of the country that the Republicans represent, then maybe the Rs would be willing to work with them to make the changes official, but people don't generally have much incentive to help those who have been flipping them the bird for several years. The Democrats got into this mess all by themselves. I'm content with the Republicans letting them get out all by themselves, too.

Selective enforcement of law. Easy to figure this one out.

Unless you consider the Constitution a piece of paper that states 'what the government can't do to you'.

The good news is that a Republican president can destroy the law without congress by doing the same thing.

I really have to laugh whenever a conservative talks about working across the aisle. That is exactly what they chose Not to do in a meeting of leadership on the very day the president took office the first time. Your leadership said out loud....on video on more than one occasion his ONLY job was to see this president fail. Obama was seen....live, on TV, on many, many, many occasions begging for bi-partisan efforts on this health bill, then decided that the REPUBLICAN version, written by the HERITAGE foundation and IMPLEMENTED by a REPUBLICAN would suffice. Seriously, do you not pay attention to any form of reality? This mess, is going to be just fine. It was a huge undertaking and no one is letting Obama off the hook for being at the helm at the time it rolled out.....but everything will be in working order in about a year. I worked in the business world a long time and realize every humongous project takes a minimum of a year to get things worked out. This mess....which is was.....will also get fixed and the country will be better for it, until we can finally get to single payer. Which already works well.

Blah blah blah, insult insult insult.

You can rationalize whatever you want however you want, but the ACTUAL reality is that the Democrats wanted full ownership of this. They wanted it to be their legacy.

Well, they got what they wanted. See you at the ballot box...

True. Romney said he would do so the very first day in office, and that was one of the reasons people voted for him.
