Pizza Hut manager offered job back after Thanksgiving disagreement - CNN.com

Now he is being his job back. They shouldn't have forced him to write a letter of resignation to begin with. What do you think?

It was the local owner that did this, not the corporation.
And corporate HQ said the vast majority of Pizza Huts in the US are closed on Thanksgiving.

I'd say they should have stayed closed, but if the owner chose to open then the manager had an obligation to work. I have worked on Thanksgiving Day. It's not fun but it's not the end of the world either.

True American hero sticking up for worker/labor rights. I'm sure upper management gets the day off at home why not low workers on a day which 95% of people don't even want a stupid pizza? I bet the store loses more money opening up to sell 3 or 4 pizzas than just simply staying closed.

That is a ownesr decision and perhaps manager should have discussed it before hand. Alot of businesses are open on thanksgiving. Many services operate 24 hrs; everyday in the year.

You be sure to tell that to the 'low worker' person answering the phone when you call your TV provider because your service goes out in the middle of the parade or football game.
Tell him he should hang up and go home and you'll wait until tomorrow.

Or the power company repair people when your power goes out and your turkey is half cooked.

Yeah forget about the true hero, ownership. You know, the ones who risk their own money in the marketplace and create the jobs?

I've had to work holidays many times. Many people do. What if air traffic controllers simply decided they were going to shut down on a holiday?

It sure would suck for you if you had a heart attack and called for an ambulance only to hear a recording to call back tomorrow as they took the holiday's off.
