Not really, plastic bags that stretch and fall apart when they have too much in them are more of a pain in the butt. Also it is possible to make paper bags with handles. Plus my wife and I prefer using reusable bags because they are much better than plastic or paper.

But even if you are correct, Government should not control rent. If you cannot afford to live in SF, move.
That is what is happening now, SF is a very expensive city to live in even with rent controls and most of the people that are getting places to rent their need guarantors to help get the apartment. .

In Louisiana, the GOP has cracked down hard on stores that sell milk for "too cheap."

One time they sent a swat team in, guns a blazing, when an independent grocer sold milk for cheaper than what was allowed.

San Francisco doesn't have a housing problem or a crisis, btw.

It is evident that there is STRONG DEMAND to live in San Francisco, hence the high prices.

Well of course because how else can you blame them ?

Thank FDR for milk price regulation.
Much of the "free market" disappeared during that time as the FedGov passed laws to intervene and subsidize and regulate prices to guarantee profits so that supplies to consumers continued.

Too many people no longer have a concept or an appreciation for political diversity.

Yes, FDR loved a Big Government Nanny State. And his Crony Capitalist buddies did too. Just like Obama, the rich get richer off the backs of taxpayers.

And most of those liberals in conservative states transplanted themselves from those high cost liberal states because of the high costs.

And then they want what they had back home and before you know it they are right back where they started with the high costs.

It was the Depression and something had to be done because people were starving in the streets.
But they were not temporary laws. They should have all been repealed after WWII was over and the US entered a time of prosperity.

Now they are used and abused to the benefit of the various "cartels" that have formed and influence the government.
