Only the money maddened would consider having "enough money" is a viable excuse to not be productive.
Ditto, for "wealth redistribution."
If lack of money was the source of poverty, simply credit everyone with 22 billion billion quatloos, more money than they can ever need. Does that eliminate poverty? Of course not. Unless people are productive, generating goods and services to offer for sale, the money is worthless, useless, and meaningless.
Real prosperity is not based on money tokens, but upon the production, trade and enjoyment of surplus usable goods and services. Doing more with less, so more can enjoy is the recipe for happiness. Doing less with more, so few can enjoy is the recipe for misery.
Folks should be asking : WHO controls the emission of money tokens, and HOW did they get that power?
The Congress has no power to create money.
Congress can coin money (stamp bullion) or borrow money. If Congress did have the power to create money, why would it need to BORROW it?
Maybe because most that answered yes are actually "righties". And, some leftists that realize the agenda of your poll are going to vote yes as well.
LoL at the OP's weak attempt. Socialism in the way liberals want it is not the answer and has never worked. Never.
Yes, i am fully aware that there are already some socialistic aspects in America. Yes, i am aware of the Nordic countries. But, as anyone in the know knows, those countries are tiny. Have vast natural resources that they are using to support the socialistic ways. Not comparable to the US in any way, shape or form.
Who is to say just because out country is bigger it would not work? It has never been actually implemented so you can not say it would not work no one knows. We do have more people but we also have resources to use. I just do not get people who say things will not work when it has never been proven not to.

Shoving a baseball bat up your rectum has never been proven not to aid digestion.

This guy gets it.
Nobody aspires to sit around and be depressed all day... people only do it because they don't know what else to do. Most people would love to make meaningful contributions to society, but they're either marginalized or don't know how. It doesn't mean they're lazy, just disillusioned.
Having so much wealth at the top doing absolutely nothing (except making more money for the rich) just makes things more expensive or makes sure that other people can't afford them. Crippling consumption in a consumer culture is the very definition of stupid. Right up there with throwing away perfectly good food simply because giving it away for free will hurt your profit margins.
If wages were more equal, then not only would prices need to come down so that more people be able to buy more things, then the parasitic jobs like hedge fund management would disappear and people could go to a socially valuable jobs like teaching knowing that a rich and rewarding life wasn't even so far out of reach.
So we've heard a lot of folks here say that if they had a guaranteed income everyone would quit and never work again. This amazes me. most of my friends would keep working! So I wondered...how much of that is projection onto others, vs's how many here would....
ps...yes I know...a typo in the header. If a mod see's this, can you fix the typo as I cant edit it apparently. Sigh.
A guaranteed income of 1500 dollars per person will cost 6 trillion to implement or 5 trillions if you don't give anything to kids. US total spending for local, state and federal is also 6 trillion dollars. You will never find funding for such a reform.
But if you can do it, then it will lead to massive increases in taxes. So if you have a job that earns 20K, then you may have to pay $15K in taxes. Then I might do volunteer work instead of doing a boring job. Many people do not like to work at all. They are not going to do a boring 40 hour week for $5K.
So the question should rather be
Would you rather be unemployed or do volunteer work, but have a guaranteed income for $15K or would you rather work at Walmart for $20K.
Agreed with No-Recess and Driller1 here. In SoCal: hell NO! In Bullhead City; it's doable. Too; I'm NOT into "toys" like bikes, boats, Jeeps and so on.

Perhaps, my meaning was not clear enough.
It is MONEY MADNESS that interferes with prosperity.
It is the BELIEF that money "holds value" that is madness.
Remember, there is no correlation between the sum of money tokens and the goods and services in the marketplace. An empty marketplace makes the money worthless, no matter how much "intrinsic value" it has.
(The example of a millionaire on a deserted island, a la "Gilligan's Island.")
It is MONEY MADNESS that prevents people from being productive and trading their production.
It is an artificial barrier that people accept to explain why those who need jobs can't work, and those who need customers, can't trade.
The only legitimate function of money is to pass value to a future trade, when simple barter is insufficient. The passed value does not exist once the final trade is completed. Which means that REALITY MONEY cannot exist independent of the marketplace of goods and services.
See it now?
The more goods and services in the marketplace, should increase the sum of money tokens needed to buy said goods and services.
But under MONEY MADNESS, there is no such linkage.
The "creators" of money know this fact, and keep us enslaved in our madness.
BTW - CONgress has no power to create money. It has the power to coin money (stamp bullion) and to borrow money. IF CONgress did have the power to create money, why would it need to BORROW it?
Now, ask yourself, WHO has the power to create the medium of exchange, if not the U.S. government?
