I was wrong, Facebook did exist in 2004, so let me rephrase

Facebook from 2004 to early 2006 was a university and employer based site and had less than 20,000 subscribers.

99.99% of people who have ever used Facebook did not learn of it till 2006 or later.

so for all intensive purposes, it did not exist to the majority of college students until 2006.

I was about to do the "in before 'they can stay on their parents' insurance'", but thought people weren't stupid enough to respond with something like that, particularly because their parents don't have to insure their kids if they don't want.

Especially college students who have long been covered under their parents' insurance.

Yeah. Not sure why this is so hard for people to figure out.

Nope - Facebook is now officially for 'old folks'. Twitter, instagram, snapchat ~ seems to be what my 18 year old spends his time on. I'm sure there is more I don't know about!

I had a great health plan in college through the university. I didn't realize how good it was until I started working full time. I would never buy an individual policy over my college policy.

Except that some universities have been dropping the insurance offered to students because of changes made by Obamacare.

It is important to note that "dropping insurance" has happened for essentially two reasons: (1) The entity dropping the insurance has some sort of moral reason not to provide the required-by-ACA coverage or (2) the insurance being dropped was insufficient.

Type in a search using the words "university drops healthcare coverage" or health insurance and see all the many news stories of various universities who've dropped student coverage due to Obamacare.

Indeed - as noted - for moral reasons or because the coverage was insufficient.

BTW, I checked one of the colleges that "dropped" insurance; here's what they say: Bowie State Yucky Insurance Dropped.

$5000 coverage? That will pay for a couple stitches in a finger...ACA wants more than that.

==============

Note that UPS is dropping coverage for spouses who are covered elsewhere (I thought that was standard stuff for a long time?). Note, too, that of the links supplied above about colleges, the participation rate is shockingly low anyway - the one college has =8= new participants a semester/year and the other has less than 10% participation rate! Gosh, it's a TRAGEDY that these institutions are "dropping" their low-cap insurance plans!

That is to say, we are seeing Yet Another False Scandal being pushed into our faces yet have no merit at ALL.
