Florida Democratic congressman loses $18 million in scheme

Florida Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson lost $18 million in a scheme by a Virginia man that involved over a 100 victims, the congressman’s office confirmed Monday.

The man who ran the scheme, William Dean Chapman, was sentenced Friday in federal court to 12 years in prison. Prosecutors say Chapman used the money to fund a lavish lifestyle including a Lamborghini, a Ferrari and a $3 million home.

In most of the court papers, Grayson's identity is protected -- prosecutors say only that an elected official with the initials A.G. was the primary victim -- but documents twice mention Grayson by name.

Sometimes I have to say..."OMG why did this happen to such a nice person"...in this case I don't feel like that. Not that I wish this to happen on anybody, but Karma can be a *****!

He deserves to be stolen from because he's a democrat?

People seriously desire those who disagree with them to be punished from above?

It's not karma, it's authoritarian followers rejoicing in people who don't blindly follow their orthodoxy having terrible things happen to them. People who had the horrible crime of thinking differently then them.

A con man is a con man. Bernie Madoff scammed just as many Republicans as Democrats, and scammed a lot of people who were neither. He even scammed other financiers, who should have known something was fishy.

The thing these guys know is nothing succeeds like success. All it takes is a few key people receiving massive returns on their investment for others to jump eagerly on the bandwagon. Investors seldom take full precautions when investing, especially when a friend just made some big money and offers a glowing recommendation.

That's why a pyramid scheme never fails in the beginning. That's why salting the mine sold millions of worthless shares 100 years ago. It's not exactly greed that keeps a scam going; it's more like getting in on a good thing while it's still good. It only takes a few truly greedy people to influence hundreds of others who are much less greedy. Luring the second bunch into a false sense of investment security is the most important part of a scam.

LOL. He is a politician, so of course its karma.

In fact sometimes, I go out, and im just a total dick to someone. You know why? Karma. If karma is real then he or she totally had it coming to them, and I am simply an agent of karma.

In all seriousness though....shrug. who knows. Who cares.
