Notice he always leaves out whatever benefits him politically. Same tactic.
What part of "tax holiday" did you miss? Holidays arent forever. Much like its been represented that the end of the temporary Bush tax cuts was somehow a increase.....

Holiday, and temporary aren't forever. You know this, and yet many feel the need to misrepresent those words as being forever...or a tax increase when they end. sigh.

Is there any reason he couldn't just tell Americans that the payroll tax holiday was over, for gods sake it's only 10 more words.

"middle class Americans will not pay one more dime in taxes, unfortunately the payroll tax holiday must come to an end."

People base purchase decisions on projected income and expenses. if they listened to Obama they were screwed.

Maybe because he thought we were smart enough to know this? because he thought people understood the terms holiday and temporary?

Seriously, this isn't like the "if you like your healthcare plan" thing at all-there we had a reasonable expectation for him to add words to it.

10 more words, 10 more words. So you don't think it's reasonable that Obama should have told them the payroll holiday was over?

Too bad for someone considering a purchase with monthly payments and basing affordability on their take home pay. That's not a president looking out for the middle class. He's looking out for his own ass.

Same tactic.

"middle class will not pay one more dime in taxes".
Left out: the payroll holiday is over January 1, 2013.

"if you like your insurance you can keep your insurance period" ->
Left out: unless Obama thinks you got bad apple insurance.

I think Obama did the right thing by letting the payroll tax expire, in fact I think it was a bad move to have the cuts to begin with.

#1 Social Security is insolvent.
#2 His Payroll Tax Reduction was Regressive as they made up for it with Fannie and Freddie Fees (the rich aren't getting those).
#3 Because of Obama for the 1st time ever we can say that SS isn't 100% self-funding.

However, Romney said Obama would let them expire...people lashed out at Romney for saying this, because clearly Obama was saying the opposite that the middle class would not see a tax hike...but once again, Obama said one thing and did another.

If you want to argue words...then Obama is disingenuous for saying that not extending the Bush Tax Cuts for Middle Class families = Raising Taxes, but not extending the Payroll Tax = NOT Raising Taxes.

Then again, we both know that Obama is highly disingenuous and lacks consistency.

At least let the middle class know the payroll tax holiday was over.

OBAMA: “If your family earns less than $250,000 a year, a quarter million dollars a year, you will not see your taxes increased a single dime. I repeat: not one single dime.”

---(President Barack Obama, Address Before A Joint Session Of Congress, Washington, DC, 2/24/09)
